GSC We will be holding our GSC Orientation and Elections on Wednesday, September 25th at 5:00 pm via zoom.
The purpose of this democratic system known as Governing School Council is to make school-wide decisions based on recommendations from the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), grade level chairs and Student Council. The GSC will meet monthly or as needed. As per California Ed Code 52852 and 64001, the composition will mirror that of the School Site Council. This composition shall include the Principal, UTLA Chair, one teacher from the K-2 Academy, one teacher from the 3-5 Academy, one teacher from the 6-8 Academy, and one classified staff member. It will include 6 parents and/or community members: one parent from the K-2 Academy, one parent from the 3-5 Academy, one parent from the 6-8 Academy, one parent ELAC representative and one "open" position (from any Academy). There will also be one community representative that will serve as an active member. All parent/community members are elected by the parents and GSC. Each seat on the Council comes with a term limit of 1 year. All staff members on GSC will be elected by June of the previous school year. All parents/community members will be elected at the beginning of the current school year. The responsibility of the GSC are as follows: To set the school vision and approve the annual budget. The GSC will review performance indicators to ensure we follow the state and federal guidelines and making consistent academic progress.
