Principal's Message

It is with great enthusiasm, gratitude, and a deep sense of responsibility that I introduce myself as the new principal of Porter Ranch Community School. My name is Mark S. Ussery, and I bring with me over 30 years of experience in public education—as a teacher, instructional leader, and school administrator. I am truly honored to join this extraordinary school and vibrant community.

 

Porter Ranch Community School is widely known for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and its strong partnership with families. As I step into this role, I want to assure you that my priority is to continue nurturing a learning environment where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential—both in and out of the classroom.

 

As a span school, PRCS offers a rare and powerful opportunity to guide students through critical stages of their development—from their early elementary years through middle school. This continuity allows for deep relationships, long-term learning goals, and a uniquely cohesive school culture. I am excited to work alongside you to strengthen and elevate this incredible foundation.

 

Throughout my career, I’ve learned that building a great school community starts with listening, transparency, and shared vision. I believe in addressing challenges directly and collaboratively, and I bring a calm, thoughtful, and solutions-driven approach to leadership. Whether it’s navigating complex situations or celebrating shared achievements, I lead with empathy, accountability, and integrity.

 

One of my top priorities will be creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue, engagement, and partnership—with parents, students, teachers, and the broader community. I want to know what matters most to you, what makes PRCS special in your eyes, and how we can grow stronger together.

 

In the coming weeks, I’ll be spending time on campus connecting with staff, visiting classrooms, and getting to know our students and families. I invite you to say hello, introduce yourselves, and share your perspectives. I am here to listen, to learn, and to lead with purpose.
